Prior Planing and Preparation...
Before you go too far down this rabbit hole, let's make sure you know a few things:
1. Eligibility:
- Age: Be at least 17 years old.
- English Proficiency: Demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Medical Certificate: Obtain a third-class medical certificate from an FAA-approved aviation medical examiner.
2. Training:
- Ground school: Complete ground school instruction, which can be done through us or a home-study course.
- Flight Training: The FAA wants you to have a certain amount of experience before you get your license, including specific requirements like cross-country, night, and instrument training all of which Legacy Aviation can helo you out with
- Solo Flight: Accumulate the required solo flight hours, including cross-country flights. (Don't stress, we will help prepare you)
3. Examinations:
- Written Exam: Pass the FAA's knowledge test on aeronautical knowledge areas.
- Practical Exam (Checkride): Pass a practical exam (checkride) with an FAA-approved examiner, which includes an oral exam and a flight test.
4. Flight Time Requirements:
- Total Flight Time:Log at least 40 hours of flight time, including:
- 20 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor.
- 10 hours of solo flight training.
- 3 hours of cross-country flight training.
- 3 hours of night flight training.
- 3 hours of instrument flight training.
